The Saga is over! Kylian Mbappe signs for Real Madrid

The saga is finally over and Real Madrid have their man.

Current Champions League winners Real Madrid have annouced the signing of French forward Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.

The long-awaited move has finally happened with the Spanish club confirming the signing of the French forward on five-year contract.

Mbappe announced his departure from Paris Saint Germain at the start of May, with no intention to renew his contract with the club. The 25-year-old now joins Madrid after a season where Carlo Ancelotti’s side finished top of the La Liga and won their record 15th Champions League.

“Real Madrid C.F. and Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons,” the club annouces in a brief statement.

Kylian Mbappe also confirms the move on his official X account saying, “A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dream Real Madrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am now.

“Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!”

It is understood that Mbappe has taken a pay-cut to join the club of his dreams. However, he is still expected to be the club’s highest paid player, with estimated earnings of €15m (£13m/$16m) to €20m (£17m/$22m) per year.
