On Tuesday, January 26th, it was announced that President Buhari sacked his newly appointed service chiefs including the chief of army staff, Buratai.

The media and publicity aid to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina finally revealed the reason why the service chiefs were sacked.

According to Adesina, the decision was made as a result of the need to rejig the security structure in Nigeria.

Why Buhari sacked Buratai and other newly appointed service chiefs

During an interview with Channels TV, Adesina said that the president felt the need to change his service chiefs in order bring in new ideas and security strategy.

Adesina noted the fact that President is happy with the former service chiefs and thanked them for their service.

He said;

“The President believed that it was time to do it and I believe the time has come and that is why it has been done.

“I don’t think it is a matter of right or wrong. It is just a matter of doing what’s right for the country at the best time.”

The media aide also debunked claims that the service chiefs resigned because of the pressure put on them because of the number of security lapses in their tenure.
