Timo Werner Seals Move to Tottenham on Loan

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the loan signing of former Chelsea striker Timo Werner for the remainder of the 2023–24 season.

Werner joined Chelsea’s London rivals from RB Leipzig, agreeing to include a £15 million buy option should Werner impress during the loan spell.

Werner, who struggled to find his form at Chelsea after a £47.5 million transfer in 2020, returned to RB Leipzig for a minimal £25.3 million in 2022.

During his second stint at the club, he has scored 18 goals in 54 games.

It is reported that the promise of regular first-team football played a key role in Werner’s decision to join Tottenham.

According to Red Bull Soccer’s technical director, Mario Gomez, Werner’s transfer is a “win-win for everyone.

“Germany benefits from it. We benefit from it because we get a player going. He will play regularly; that’s what Tottenham has conveyed to us,” Gomez added.
