US Lab Denies Conducting Autopsy and Toxicology Test on Mohbad

The National Medical Services Laboratories management in Pennsylvania, USA, refuted claims of performing a toxicology test on Mohbad.

As per information from the Punch, the laboratory in the US did not administer any toxicology tests at their premises to ascertain the reason behind the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also recognised as Mohbad.

This statement was issued following an inquiry by Punch to NMS Labs regarding the examination.

During the proceedings at the Coroner’s Court on May 15, a pathologist revealed that the decomposition of Mohbad’s body hindered the determination of his cause of death through an autopsy.

Fast forward to November 2023, when the Coroner’s Court reconvened in Ikorodu district, the state attorney, O. Akinde, informed the court that the toxicology test, a crucial part of the autopsy process to establish the cause of death, was not available.

The state DNA and Forensic Centre are currently handling the case, but their services are limited, with three affiliate centres assisting them.

“So, if there is an emergency like this one that we have, they will not say they cannot handle it. So, there are three of them in the US and the one handling this particular one is the NMS in Pennsylvania, USA,” Omotoso said during the live programme.

Punch disclosed that an email was sent to the aforementioned lab to inquire about whether or not a toxicology test had been carried out at their establishment to ascertain Mohbad’s cause of death.

In response to the correspondence dated May 17, Esther Dede, a Client Services Associate in the Forensics Division of NMS Labs, denied that Mohbad’s toxicology test was carried out in any of their facilities, as stated by the state government.

“Unfortunately, we do not have a case for that patient. To maintain our compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations, we would need authorization from the submitting agency.”
