A video of the gravesite of the renowned Nigerian footballer, Samuel Okwaraji, who lost his life while playing for Nigeria against Angola in 1989, has surfaced online.

Nigerian lady Nnenna Okoronkwo, who shared the touching video online, paid tribute to the late Nigerian footballer.

Nnenna, in a touching video, took viewers to the graveside of the late footballer and reflected on his impactful career and contributions to Nigerian football.

According to reports, Sam Okwaraji had a successful career in Europe, playing for clubs like NK Dinamo Zagreb, VfB Stuttgart, and SSV Ulm 1846.

Apart from his football skills, Okwaraji was also dedicated to his education, pursuing a degree in law alongside playing football.

Nnenna Okoronkwo, in her emotional video tribute, expressed her admiration for the late footballer.

“I didn’t get to watch him but I grew up reading about him. This is one of the few men who died while in active service for their country. If he had lived longer, only God knows what he would have achieved for the nation. So this is it. The monument. Anytime I pass through the stadium I look at it and feel nostalgic. I’m remembering him today and praying to God that his soul continues to rest in peace,”  Nnenna Okoronkwo said.
