Nigerian international superstar Wizkid has set a new record for the longest gap between No.1 songs on TurnTable Top 100 Nigeria music chart.
Asake’s song ‘MMS’ featuring Wizkid, which is off his recently released third album ‘Lungu Boy’ has reached No. 1 on TurnTable Top 100, making it a second chart-topper for Wizkid.
TurnTable Top 100 is Nigeria’s foremost and official music chart.
With ‘MMS’ top of the chart, it marks 3 years, 9 months and 12 days since Wizkid last recorded a chart-topping single. The last time one of his songs topped the chart was with ‘Ginger’ featuring Burna Boy.
This also means that Wizkid has surpassed the record previously held by Omah Lay who set the gap at 1 year, 10 months, and 16 days.
The record shows Wizkid’s longevity and relevance in the Nigerian music scene since his career started over a decade ago.
The Grammy Award winner is expected to release his highly anticipated sixth LP ‘Morayo’ which he names after his late mother.
Speaking about the album, Wizkid has confirmed that there will be Nigerian artists on the album, while also calling it his best project ever.
