World Cup 2022 draw: England to face Iran and USA in the group stage

The draw for the greatest football competition took place today in Qatar.

The draws for the 2022 FIFA World Cup have taken place, as the football world prepares for the competition headed for Qatar later this year.

All 32 qualifying countries have been placed in eight groups, consisting of four countries per group.

Qatar, the host country, has been placed in group A, alongside Ecuador, Senegal and the Netherlands. They would face Ecuador in what would be the first match of the tournament.

England, USA, Wales/Scotland/Ukraine and Iran are the four teams in group B, while Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland are placed in group C.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal would face Uruguay in group H, while Spain would battle Germany in group E.

The competition starts on Monday, November 21 and will run until Sunday, December 18.
