Residents of Jajere town in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State has called on Governor Mai Mala Buni to rehabilitate the 45-kilometer road from Tikau to Jajere.
Speaking to newsmen in Jajere, the village head of Jajere, Alhaji Adamu Wakili Ilu said the call became imperative because the road was now a death trap.
He said the road was constructed by the Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim administration, adding that it has been completely damaged and the people are seriously suffering.
Wakili Ilu revealed that several appeals were made by the people of Jajere town to the past governments in the State to rehabilitate the road.
According to him, Jajere town is the third-largest town in the local government and people used to come from far places like Kaduna, Kano, Lagos, Niger Republic and other places to trade.
Also speaking, members representing the area in the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Ciroma Buba Mashio assured that very soon the government will commence work on the road.
He said the government had approved some amount for the rehabilitation of the road.
“We are waiting for the government to release the funds and as soon as the fund is released, the work will commence without delay,” he said.
