Zamfara police commissioner assures tertiary institutions of total protection

The Zamfara State Police Command has expressed its readiness to ensure security and safety of all schools in Zamfara State.

It said that tertiary institutions that are currently in session would be perfectly protected.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ayuba Elkanah disclosed this when the Police Tactical Commanders on a Security assessment visited all tertiary Institutions in Gusau, the State capital.

According to him, the visit was aimed at assessing the existing security arrangements of the schools with a view to adding more strategies that will guarantee the security and safety of the students and school communities.

“The visit was also to create confidence for lecturers and and students in order to have a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in their respective institutions.”

The Commissioner said that the Police were fully committed to the security of schools in the State and urged them to be security conscious and report early warning signal to the police for timely response.

The Schools visited by the Commissioner of Police and his Tactical Commanders were Federal University Gusau (FUGUS), Federal College of Education Technical Gusau (FCET), School of Nursing and Midwifery and Zamfara State College of Arts and Science, all based in Gusau.
