Balenciaga unveil “destroyed sneakers” series with each pair to be sold for N1m

The brand hopes to support growing conversations on the impact of overconsumption on the platform.

Famous fashion luxury brand, Balenciaga has unveiled a new campaign to promote a series of roughed-up sneakers to be sold at a whopping price.

A series of images showing severely roughed-up and tattered sneakers uploaded online has since gone viral following the launch of the new sneakers trend.

According to the brand, only 100 pairs of the “extra destroyed” sneakers will be available for sale at $1,850 (N1,091,500).

However, the less roughed-up versions, which would be non-limited, would be available for sale on the Balenciaga website for $495 and $625 depending on the specific style.

In a press release, the Paris-based brand said: “The campaign photos show the shoes “extremely worn, marked up, and dirtied.”

“The still-life portraits “suggest that Paris Sneaker are meant to be worn for a lifetime.”

Balenciaga hopes to make a statement with this new sneakers campaign with relevance to growing conversations around the fast fashion industry and the impact of overconsumption on the planet.
