Breaking: Federal Government Rejects ASUU’s Condition for Ending Strike.

The federal government of Nigeria has rejected the Academic Staff Union of the Universities condition for ending it’s strike. The federal government described the condition set by ASUU as ‘unreasonable’.

2709updates reported earlier that ASUU announced that it will end its strike when it’s newly setup method of payment, UTAS passed the federal government integrity test.

After finally reaching an agreement with the federal government, ASUU was expected to call off its strike on October 21.

But the national leader and president of ASUU, Professor Biodun Okeowo said that the National Information Technology Development Agency needs a clearance from the federal government in order to conduct the integrity test.

But now, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Ben Goong has said that ASUU’s demand is ridiculous as varsity lecturers cannot determine how they should be paid by their employers which is the federal government.

“I don’t know whether you know how many groups, organisations and associations receiving a salary from the federal account. So if everybody is doing their own platform, imagine how many payment platforms government will have to deal with,” Ben Goong said.

The long awaited ASUU’S end of strike seems to have moved backward to stage 1, as federal government rejected it’s condition for ending strike.
