Nigerians are urged to show acts of charity and generosity to the less privileged around them who cannot afford basic materials for themselves.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has today, annouced Friday, 29th of March, and Monday, 1st of April, as public holidays to mark Easter celebrations.
This is contained in a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Ashietu Ndayako, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In the statement, which was made on behalf of the federal government, Tunji-Ojo urged Christians to emulate the love and sacrifice displayed by Jesus Christ as he died for man’s redemption.
According to him, Easter promoted values of love, forgiveness, and compassion which are very essential for harmony and unity.
He further advised Nigerians to emulate these values as they could greatly impact Nigeria’s socio-economic development by fostering peace, encouraging cooperation and fostering unity among Nigerians.
Tunji-Ojo also urged Nigerians to show acts of charity and generosity to the less privileged around them who cannot afford basic materials for themselves.
As a form of conclusion, he also seized the opportunity to encourage Nigerians to continue to support the Tinubu-led administration in its determination to bring sustainable development and prosperity to all.
