BREAKING: NECO Finally Releases 2021 SSCE Results.

The National Examinations Council(NECO) has releases the results of 2021 Secondary School Certificate Examination(SSCE).

The Registrar, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, announced the release of SSCE Results at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

According to the Registrar, a number of 1,226,796 candidates sat for the examination out of 1,233,631 candidates that registered for it.

He disclosed that the number male candidates who sat for the examination was 657,389, representing a percentage of 52.8%, which is higher than the number of females which was 576,242(46.71%).

Dantani revealed that 878,925(71.64%) candidates passed with five credits in English and Mathematics, which shows a decrease of 2.25% compared to 2020 SSCE

He said that an increase of 2.61% compared to 2020 results was recorded from the 1,226,796(94.04%) candidates that had five credits and above irrespective of Mathematics and English in 2021 SSCE results.

Addressing examination malpractices, the registrar revealed that 20,003 various cases of malpractices were recorded during the exams.

He disclosed that one school each in Bayelsa, Bauchi and Kaduna, and two schools in Katsina were de-recognised for their involve ment in exam malpractices. While 20 supervisors were blacklisted for their involvement in various mis-conducts including “Poor supervision, writing answers for students on boards, Aiding and Abetting and extortion”.

The council also recorded a drop in examination malpractices from 2.61% in 2020 to 1.63% in 2021.

“The council has a long-standing tradition of zero tolerance for malpractice. Thus, it can be noticed that the malpractice incidence dropped compared to 2020”, Dantani said.

According to the Registrar, the results was released late because of challenges faced as a result of some actions by agencies that have direct bearing on the operations of the council.
