The Portuguese international wins the award after a progemressive second stint at Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Premier League player of the month for September while Arsenal’s Mike Arteta wins the Manager of the Month award.
Ronaldo has now claimed the award for the the fifth time in his career, drawing him level with Wayne Rooney as the only Manchester United players to have won the award five times.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored five goals in six appearances so far, including three in the league in September. Two of those goals were scored on his second debut when Man Utd welcomed Newcastle to the theatre of dreams.
Cr7 won the award ahead of Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maxim, Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, Watford’s Ismaila Sarr, Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger and Liverpool forward, Mohammed Salah.
After winning the award, Ronaldo went on Twitter to thank his team-mates for making it possible.
“Proud to be elected Player Of The Month among so many great players in the Premier League,” he said.
“Thanks to all my team-mates at Man United, couldn’t have done it without them. Let’s keep working hard and the results will come!”
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s boss Mikel Arteta was named the League’s manager for the month of September after turning a devastating Arsenal around.
After a slow start to the season, Arteta was able to secure three wins from three in the month of September. A 3-1 win against North London rivals Tottenham as well as crucial victories against Norwich and Burnley were enough to take Arsenal to 11th on the table.
“I think [this award] represents the way everyone has been together, has been working and has been positive in difficult moments and continued to do their work with the right mentality, the right ambition and with the right work and direction,” he said after winning the award.
“So it’s for them. I get [the award] but it’s for all the people behind it.”
Also, Everton’s Andros Townsend wins the award for Premier League goal of the month for September, becoming the first player to win the award on three different occasions.
Townsend scored an unbelievable 25-yard long-range screamer in their 3-1 win against Burnley at Goodison’s Park.
Everton are currently fifth place behind Manchester United after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, where he (Townsend) scored again.
Premier League action will be back again on the 16th of October, with Ronaldo hoping to add to his tally when his club faces Leicester City at the Foxes stadium.
