CNN today, May 17, 2024, released shocking footage that appears to show American rapper and music executive, Sean “Diddy” Combs punching and kicking his ex-girlfriend and singer, Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016.
The music mogul can be seen following Ventura down the corridor in a towel on surveillance footage taken at a hotel in Los Angeles in March 2016.
He then appears to attack her close to the lifts. Then he attempts to pull her back down the hallway.
According to reports, the event happened at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. CNN used publicly accessible images of the inside of the defunct hotel to confirm the location.
In the footage, Diddy pushes Cassie to the ground and then goes to the floor near the lifts to get a luggage and handbag. She lies on the ground while he turns around and kicks her once again.
Later in the video, Cassie can be seen carefully getting to her feet, picking up objects from the floor, and making her way to a hotel phone that is mounted on the wall of the hallway next to the lifts. Diddy then reappears wearing only a towel and socks.
The rapper appears to shove his ex-girlfriend, according to a mirror right across from the surveillance camera. After that, he is seen throwing something at her.
CNN reports that Diddy later paid $50,000 to the InterContinental Century City for the security footage captured in the corridor.
The footage seems to confirm several claims made by Cassie in her 2023 lawsuit, wherein she stated that the rapper had repeatedly raped, assaulted and trafficked her for over ten years.
According to the lawsuit, which described the incident as happening “around March 2016, it stated that “Diddy Combs became “extremely intoxicated and punched Cassie Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye.”
After the rapper fell asleep, she attempted to leave the hotel room, but he woke up and “followed her into the hallway of the hotel while yelling at her,” the complaint continued.
The singer said that the pattern of abuse started as soon as their relationship did and that in 2018 when she was attempting to break things off, he broke into her Los Angeles house and sexually assaulted her.
However, the lawsuit the singer filed against the rapper was settled a day after she filed it for an undisclosed amount of money.
Later on after the settlement, Cassie told CNN at the time she had chosen to “resolve this matter amicably,” while the rapper’s lawyer said the settlement was “in no way an admission of wrongdoing” and didn’t change his denial of the allegations.
This tape was released in the wake of numerous civil lawsuits accusing the rapper and music mogul—who is recognized for having aided in the beginning of the careers of many of the biggest names in recent years—of rape, sex trafficking, and sexual abuse.
