The new feature would available for smart phones and IOS devices and would not require phone numbers.

Elon Musk has announced that the micro blogging platform X, which was formally known as Twitter would soon allow users to make audio and video calls.

The billionaire disclosed this in a tweet on Thursday, adding that the new features won’t require phone numbers to function and will be accessible on IOS, Android, Mac and PC devices.

Musk added that “this set of factors is unique” and would make the X app function as “the effective global address book” when these features launches.

Although the billionaire didn’t provide a timeline for the launch, it is believed that feature may likely be restricted to the X Blue subscribers paying $8 per month. This feature would also put X in direct competition with other audio and video call apps like Whatsapp and FaceTime.
