Former Nigeria international, Finidi George, began his time as Enyimba head coach on a winning note.

Finidi led the Aba team to a 1-0 victory over ASC Diambars in the first leg of their second round qualifying of the CAF Confederations Cup in Senegal.

It was not an easy victory for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side.

Enyimba had their goalkeeper John Noble to thank for the win, as he made several crucial saves in the match.

Substitute Cyril Olisema’s netted a late penalty, to ensure The Peoples Elephants go into the second leg in Aba with a slim advantage.

It was Enyimba’s first game in the competition after they were drawn bye in the first qualifying round.

Finidi will now hope his side can finish the job at home and seal a place in the playoff round.
