If God were to give you a blank cheque, what would you ask for?
Hmm, tough question right? Yeah, but I bet your answer would have been predictable.

Well it happens, It happened to Solomon, He was given a blank cheque by God, and whatever he wanted, he would have gotten.

You can relate it to Aladdin and the magic lamp, where all he had to do, was rub it and whatever he wanted, he would have.

God asked Solomon to ask of anything, and he would be given, of all things Solomon asked, he asked for wisdom. He could have asked for money, he could have asked for peace in his country, he could have asked for good health, he could have asked for the finest women and children, he could have asked for his descendants to never be poor, but he asked for wisdom. Hmmm.

Imagine God asking anyone in this generation to say whatever they want, and he would give them, people would ask for money, millions of money in dollars, pounds, the highest currency, a trip to Canada or maybe even Dubai, and if anyone would have asked for wisdom, they would have mocked him, “that God gave you a blank cheque and you asked for wisdom. It’s that wisdom that will kill you. you cannot ask for any better thing.” (clearly an angry Nigerian)
but Solomon asked for wisdom.
see I don’t know, but I felt like Solomon was even wise already to ask for wisdom. and you know what God told him, Wisdom you’ve asked for, Wisdom I shall give you and for what you didn’t even ask, I would give you also.

Which got me thinking, as much as we believe that Money is everything in this generation, the truth is money isn’t and only people who have this money would be able to tell you.

Don’t get me wrong. Money is good, Money answereth all things, Money stops nonsense but there is so much money can’t give you and that’s a fact.

These days the things people do for money baffle me. Sell their integrity, give their family, betray their friends in exchange for money( I mean that has been going on for quite a long time, Judas is evidence) just to get enough money to build a luxurious house, ride a luxurious car, have things that won’t matter when there is war when you are sick when you are considered to be mentally unstable.

I mean if you think it’s not true, there are many examples you could take lessons from. Yaradua had money, I mean he was a President, Michael Jackson had enough money, that if he could buy life and good health with it, he would probably have, but now he couldn’t, that’s because there are a lot of things money can’t buy. Money can’t buy a happy home, So when asking for things from God, please ask for things money can’t buy. priceless things.

Let’s take Solomon for example.
I mean to show you the magnitude of Solomon’s money. It is recorded that nobody has superseded the wealth of Solomon. so call your best, Is it Dangote, Otedola, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk who? No one. ….The Bible even went to show, that the coming Kingdom that God has prepared for us is the only Kingdom that will supersede the Kingdom of Solomon, I stand corrected.

Will you also agree with me that not only did Solomon ask for wisdom, he asked for it that he may be able to rule his people well. Now if God were to give you a blank cheque, ask yourself, this thing I’m going to ask God for, is it for the good of/ to help others, or it’s for your selfish desires.

Have you asked God for a thing, not because you want it for yourself, but because of how it will benefit others? When you asked God for a good grade or a promotion at work, did you ask because you wanted to make your parents proud for their unending effort when it comes to your education and your family’s welfare or it was because you wanted to finally pass and shove it in the face of your rival?

Your motives are important because even the Bible says
James 4:3 – “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

Solomon is the richest King ever known, despite asking for wisdom alone and I bet you know why already.

Now I ask you again, If God were to give you a blank cheque, what would you be asking for?
