JUST IN: Popular Yoruba actress Iyabo Oko dies after prolonged illness

The veteran actress battled with illness before she passed away.

Nollywood veteran actress, Sidikat Odunkanwi, who is also know as “Iyabo Oko” had passed away after a prolonged battle with an illness.

The news of her death was posted by her daughter, Biyi Aisha, on her Instagram page few hours ago with the captions, “It is well with your soul mummy, RIP”, and, “Wurami, rest in peace”.

According to reports, the veteran Yoruba actress was previously diagnosed with ischemic stroke which she had been battling for sometime. As a result of this ailment, she stepped away from acting.

However, it is important to note that this isn’t the first time she would be pronounced dead.

In January 2022, she was pronounced dead after suffering a cardiac arrest, although she came back to life 3 hours later after a pulse was found and she moved.

The deceased actress was born in Iwo, Osun State, and began her acting in 1973. She became popular when she starred in Oga Bello’s movie titled ‘Oko’, which is where she derived her nickname ‘Iyabo Oko’.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren.
