MURIC urges President Tinubu to reject LGBT accord

MURIC labelled the agenda as an evil one, stating that both holy books condemned the act.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reject the proposed “LGBT accord” which seeks to approve lesbians, gays, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) in Nigeria.

MURIC made this call on Saturday, December 2, 2023, in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

The statement revealed that Western countries, acting under the EU-ACP alliance, have been putting pressure on Nigeria to align with countries that endorse LGBT relationships.

According to MURIC, aligning with such agendas would mean going against the order of nature.

The statement said, “We reject this concept. It is evil, immoral, luciferous, and abominable. It is also against the order of nature. Allah created all in pairs of opposite sex. How can life continue if we turn it to same sex?”

MURIC also backed their vehement opposition of the agenda with references from the Holy Qur’an and Holy Bible, stating the too holy books condemned same-sex relationship.

The statement also said that homosexuality is entirely inconsistent with Nigerian traditional practices and the wisdom of the country’s ancestors, who MURIC believe were conscious of an Almighty Creator that arranged nature with wisdom.
