OAU Lecturer Caught on Video Assaulting Student Over Phone Usage

A male lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, was seen in a viral video manhandling a student after he refused to switch off his mobile phone in class.

In a viral video, the lecturer, Dr. Ariyo of the Department of Electrical Engineering, could be heard asking him to switch off his phone but he refused.

“You can’t be more than me,” he said to him.

The student refused to obey his directive. At this point, the lecturer got angry and forcefully took the phone from him, then pushed him.

Lere Olayinka, a former aide to ex-governor Ayo Fayose who shared the video online, said the student bled from the assault.

’This is a lecturer in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Dr. Ariyo, from the Department of Elect Engineering, assaulting a student in his class today.

The student is currently bleeding and his Samsung phone is damaged.”
