Nigeria’s former Minister for Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is definitely a proud mother as her son Dr. Uchechi Iweala breaks medical record in the United States.

The proud mother took to her Twitter page to annouce her son’s achievements as he becomes one of the first spinal surgeons in Maryland to perform a successful navigated lumber spinal fusion using a robot.

She definitely couldn’t hide her joy as she congratulated and wished her son more achievements as he goes down the medical line.

“Congratulations Dr. Uchechi Iweala, on being one of the first spinal surgeons in Maryland to perform a successful navigated lumbar spinal fusion using a robot! So proud to be your Mum! Keep it going!”

Those were the words she used to describe her amazing son, alongside some pictures taken from the surgery.

Who is Dr. Uchechi Iweala?

Dr. Uchechi Iweala is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in spine surgery.

After he earned both his Bachelor’s and Masters Degrees from Harvard, he completed his residency training in orthopaedic surgery at George Washington University.

Dr. Uchechi has also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at New York University and he majors in Robotic Spine Surgery, Minimal Invasive Spine Surgery, Cervical and Lumbar Disc Replacement, Spinal Fusion/Arthrodesis, Nerve Releases, amongst others.
