Police arrest 19-year-old boy for trying to snatch patrol bike

The teenager wasn’t aware that the riders on the bike were police officers.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RSS) have arrested a 19-year-old boy, identified as Akinjobi Wahab, for attempting to snatch their patrol motorcycle.

News of his arrest was shared on the X handle of Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, stating that the teenager was arrested at about 4:00 am, on Acme Road, Agidigbi, Ikeja area of the state.

According to the PPRO, Wahab was in the company of four other suspects when they accosted a motorcycle. The other four suspects, however, are now said to be at large.

Wahab, who was wielding a machete, wasn’t aware that the riders on the bike were police officers in regular clothes.

“This is coming on the heels of the emplacement of regular foot and vehicular patrols in the area by the Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, in response to repeated complaints that robbers operate around Agidingbi, Ikeja very early mornings,” Hundeyin wrote on his page.

He added that the suspect would be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
