Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has finally addressed the ongoing lamentations of many Nigerians over the ultimatum date given by the federal government for the Subscriber Identification Modules(SIM) linkage with National Identification Number(NIN).

On Wednesday, January 13th, NCC revealed that the body is waiting for advice from the federal government before it takes a final decision, Punch reports.

2709updates also gathered information that the ultimatum dates given to SIM owners for NIN-SIM linkage remains unchanged despite the huge opposition the registration process faces in the country .

The huge Indifference of many Nigerians towards the ongoing NIN Registration process is as result of the large crowds that gather everyday at the various offices of National Identity Management Commission(NIMC)

During an interview held in Abuja with Punch, the director of public affairs, Ikechukwu Adinde, said no deadline extension had been approved.

In his words:

“Right now, apart from the recent information that we made concerning the extension, no further update yet.

“The information on this matter was the one we talked about when we moved the extension to January 19th for those who have NIN’s and February 9th for those who do not have.”

Ikechukwu noted that he was also in support of extending the registration deadline so that more people can register.

It Should Be Noted That:

The deadline for NIN-SIM linkage falls on January 19th, 2021, for those who have NIN’S and February 9th, 2021, for those who do not have.
