The victory God gave the newly freed Israelites was the first of its kind. They literarily lifted no finger, shot no arrow against their enemies- the Egyptians. And saw them dead in the red sea.
It called for a celebration! Mariam, Moses’ elder sister, alongside others sang songs of praise to God for the surprising safe from a recapture by their once-upon-a-time slave masters.
Praising the name of the Lord is a duty of every believer. This skill can be cultivated and learnt by us. Really, how would you praise the God that you know nothing of? So first things first, purposefully and meticulously learn the names of God. Take a look at God, and remind yourself of who He is.
This post is designed to help you know some names of the Lord.
God is Elohim- the creator of this vast and endless universe. He is the Most High. The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is His name. He is the great “I AM” that brought to Abraham righteousness, and to Israel their salvation. He is Love, Light, Truth, Goodness, Mercy, Faithfulness, and Righteousness.
He is JAH Jehovah, Jehovah Jireh (my provider), Jehovah Nissi (my banner), Jehovah Shalom (my peace), Jehovah Rophe (my healer), Jehovah Shammah (my abiding presence), Jehovah Rohi (my shepherd), and Jehovah Tsidkenu (my righteousness), El-Shaddai (my supplier).
He is first and the last, beginning and end, the King of glory, Lion of the tribe of Judah, the slain Lamb, the resurrected King, giver of redemption, hope, grace and Eternal Life.
He is the God of the living: of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Me. He is my master (Adonai), my everlasting strength and song, my joy and gladness, my deliverance and progress, my reason for living. God is my sanctifier, my rock, my power, my counselor, my comforter, my teacher, and my guide.
Read portions of scriptures that speak of His greatness, that exhort us to praise Him. The Psalms for example is known for its rich poems and songs that spell out God’s prominence and dominion. There are lots of stories in the Bible that prove to us His wonderous works. You just need to sit down, check them out for yourself, and grasp a glimpse of Him.
Christians arise, and know your God for whom He actually is.
Tell me, in the comment section, the names of God you know.
