The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said that the body will call off it’s ongoing strike when it’s newly set up payment method University Transparency and Accountability Solution passes the federal government’s Integrity test.
During an interview with The Punch, National leader and President of Asuu, Professor Biodun Okeowo, said that the National Information Technology Development Agency needs a clearance from the federal government in order to conduct the integrity test.
“The Integrity test will be handled by NITDA, it is the federal government that will facilitate it, it is because the NITDA is a government agency and unless you get clearance from the government the test cannot be conducted,” he said.

Professor Oguyemi also gave assurance that ASUU members are ready to resume if only the government plays it’s part.
“Our members are ready to work as early as government is ready to play it’s part. I’m sure you are not suggesting that our members should resume on empty stomach or the strike should be suspended without any concrete action on the side of the government. We don’t like to stay away from our work because we like our students, thet are also our priority,” he said.
He continued, ” As far as we are concerned, we don’t have an issue going back to work, but we want more sincerity from the government.
“We have not seen enough reasons to believe that they don’t mean what they are telling us but as we see any sign to that effect we will tell Nigerians.”
