Thomas Tuchel named manager of the month for March as Iheanacho takes player award

The German tactician has scooped the award after maintaining an unbeaten start to life as Chelsea’s boss, while Iheanacho claimed the player of the month award for March.

Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as Blues mananger at the end of January. Ever since, he has guided Chelsea to a 14-match unbeaten run in all competitions – including notable wins against Liverpool and Everton in the league as well as eliminating Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Chelsea were ninth in the league with an inconsistent run of form, but the German has managed to move Chelsea into the top four as well as progressing in the League Cup and Champions league. The former Paris Saint Germain beat Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter and Ole Gunner Solskjaer to the award.

“I am really happy to have received this award and I believe it is a great achievement for everybody at the club who is involved in putting the team together to play each week.” He told Chelsea’s official website.
“The award would not be possible if it wasn’t for the hard work of all my coaching staff and the wider support team who all push the team in the same direction, to achieve success.

“Lastly, I want to acknowledge the hard work of the players who have given me their maximum efforts and commitment since I arrived and we hope we can keep this strong run going until the very end of the season.”

Meanwhile, in-form Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho claimed the Premier league player of the month award for match. His outstanding form in front of goal ensured the Foxes remained unbeaten for the month of March as they maintain their push for a place in the Champions league.

The Nigerian scored five goals in three matches for the club – including a hat-trick against buttom side Sheffield United. That hat-trick was his first on the Premier League. He further took his exploits into the League Cup as he scored a double against Manchester United before the international break.

The forward who beat Riyad Mahrez, Andreas Christensen, Harry Kane, Leandro Trossard, Illan Meslier, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard to the award told Leceister’s official website. “I’m so pleased and honoured to win this award.
“I’m really enjoying playing at the minute and hopefully I can push on and help the team to finish as high as possible this season.”
