Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, has embarked on a journey to Europe, citing the purpose of the trip as a working visit. On Wednesday, Tinubu left Nigeria with the intention of fine-tuning transition plans, programs, and policy options alongside key aides, free from distractions.
During his stay in Europe, Tinubu aims to engage with investors and important allies, focusing on promoting investment opportunities within the country. His administration aims to create a business-friendly environment through favourable policies and regulations. The President-elect plans to meet with various actors from Europe’s business community, spanning sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, technology, and energy.
In a statement released by his Media Aide, Tunde Rahman, it was stated that Tinubu’s objective is to convince European partners of Nigeria’s readiness to engage in mutually beneficial partnerships that foster job creation and skills acquisition. Revitalizing the country’s economy is a central aspect of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, and these meetings form part of his efforts to reestablish Nigeria’s prominence in the global economic landscape while providing empowering opportunities for the country’s sizable youth population.
The President-elect has demonstrated his commitment to hitting the ground running, engaging in discussions with global actors in critical areas such as the economy and security. The visit to Europe aligns with his proactive approach, further solidifying his dedication to his promises.
Prior to his departure, Tinubu met with the House of Representatives candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker, both endorsed by his party, the All Progressives Congress. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and Hon. Benjamin Kalu were presented to him by the Joint Task Team of the House.
Tinubu is expected to return shortly to commence preparations for his official inauguration as Nigeria’s 16th President on May 29, 2023.
