The court also ordered the petitioner to observe the three-month Iddah period as laid down by Islamic laws before she could marry again.

An Ilorin-based housewife, identified Kuburat Adebayo, has asked to divorce her husband of six years, Abdullateef Suleiman over childlessness.

Adebayo (the petitioner) told an Area Court at Centre-Igboro in Ilorin that she felt no love for her husband and has no second thought about her decision.

According to reports, both families tried to settle the misunderstanding between the two and were surprised by the court summons.

“The issue is deep, but it is not necessary to narrate all that transpired between us in this open court,” a respondent said.

The court judge who presided over the case, AbdulKabir Ahmed, dissolved the marriage between them the Islamic way on mutual agreement between the two.

The judge ordered the petitioner to observe the three-month Iddah period, as stated by Islamic laws before she could marry again.
