Search to recover body of the second passenger is still ongoing.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the recovery of the body of a male who drowned in the Third Mainland Bridge lagoon after a bus conveying him and other passengers crashed on the bridge on Wednesday.

This was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by the agency’s Lagos Territorial Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye. According to him, the body was recovered close to the scene of the accident by the Marine Police.

He also stated that search and rescue was still ongoing to recover the body of the female passenger who suffered the same fate.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the two passengers were thrown out of a commercial vehicle on the Third Mainland Bridge on Wednesday. NAN reports that the duo were thrown out of the bus due to impact when the bus somersaulted and hit the rails of the bridge.

Since then, emergency responders have been trying to rescue the bodies of the two passengers.
