The body of a yet to be identified man has been recovered from Asa River, along Emir’s Road in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Spokesman of the State Fire Service, Hakeem Hassan Adekunle, in a statement on Monday, said the body was found with the two hands tied on his back and head covered by some tattered wrapper.

The corpse, according to Adekunle, was brought out of the river at about 3.20 pm on Monday, November 15.

“Our officers were able to remove the body from the river and later handed it over to one Superintendent Ajape of Nigeria Police Force, Kwara State Command,” he stated.

“The shocking aspect of the incident was that the deceased’s hands were tied together and his head too was covered by some tattered wrappers. Presently, no concrete evidence has been found as regards the cause of this terrible incident,” he added.

Meanwhile, the director of the Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness on the development and advised members of the public to be vigilant as they go about their day-to-day activities.
