Presently, Taraba State is currently in a state of anxiety. Some separatists from Cameroon with whom they share a border attacked a village. The attack claimed eleven lives and there are tons of missing people.

This tragedy occurred on Wednesday, 17 November 2021. The Manga village of Takum Local Council was attacked. According to reports, the village monarch was among those killed.

While speaking to newsmen, the late monarch’s brother stated that;

“My elder brother, who is the traditional ruler of the village, was killed. The foreign soldiers killed him in his palace before going ahead to kill other people in the community.”

Reacting to the event at the plenary, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP, Taraba South) raised a serious warning. He stated that some separatists are trying to take over the Manga Community in Takum Local Council of Taraba State. He mentioned that these separatists invading the community are from Southern Cameroon and they killed the village monarch.

Furthermore, the attack was described as a slap on the territorial sovereignty of Nigeria by the Senate Deputy Minority Leader. The lawmaker urged the military to instantly handle the issue to avert the domination of the Manga Community by Cameroonian separatists.

Currently, Nigeria is facing critical security issues. The threat of an invasion of our land by the separatists of another country simply worsens our woes. Also, this event further exposes the loopholes in the security of our states and communities.
