Chelsea confirms Graham Potter as new head coach following Tuchel’s sacking

The English coach has expressed his excitement at joining the London club.

Premier League outfits Chelsea have annouced Graham Potter as their new head coach, following the surprise sacking of Thomas Tuchel.

It hasn’t taken long for the Blues to replace the German tactician after a disappointing start to the Champions League on Tuesday, which saw them lose 1-0 to Dynamo Zagreb.

Aside from that, Chelsea has also struggled to keep momentum in the Premier League, despite spending the most in the transfer window.

A statement from the club has, however, confirmed that Graham Potter will take over the hot seat at Chelsea, with the 47-year-old departing Brighton after three years in charge at the club.

Potter has been handed a long-term contract by the Blues as they hope to steady their ship for the season.

During his three years at Brighton, Potter guided the club to their best top-flight finish in 2021-22 as they secured ninth place. He doesn’t leave the club in tatters though as Brighton have maintained that form to the start of the season as they currently sit fourth on the table- three points above Chelsea.

“I am very excited to partner with Chelsea’s new ownership group and look forward to meeting and working with the exciting group of players and to develop a team and culture that our amazing fans can be proud of.”
