Human Rights Activist Slaps Interviewee

A human rights activist slapping a woman on camera sounds ironic, right? The founder of Breketa Family Ordinary Ahmed Isah, was caught on camera slapping an interviewee.

The Breketa Family are human rights activists passionate about cases that violate human rights.

In an interview with a lady that tied and set a little girl on fire, Ordinary Ahmed Isah slapped the lady. A BBC presenter made this known via a documentary on BBC News Africa.

This has sparked reactions. While some believe Ordinary Ahmed Isah did no wrong as the lady’s cruelty deserves way more than a slap, others opine that by assaulting her, Ordinary Ahmed Isah violated the human rights his organization is meant to protect. Some even placed him on the same scale as the lady that set the child ablaze.

If we go by the law, what Ordinary Ahmed Isah did is plain assault and unprofessional. However, according to the principle of situational ethics, an action should be judged wrong or right based on the situation. Concerning the situation in place, and her silly excuse for such a heinous crime, one can argue that in the situation Ordinary Ahmed Isah was not wrong.

Nevertheless, as humans, we need to keep our emotions in check. It is what makes us humans. Sadly, attention is shifting from the victim as people seem to be more concerned with if the presenter’s action was right or wrong. 

Child abuse is heinous and I hope due justice will be served by a court of law.
