The arrested trafficker also disclosed that the girls were already pregnant before they came to her.

Akudo Azoroh, a woman arrested for allegedly running a baby factory in Rivers State has confessed to the Police that she sells the children between N1.4M and N1.5M, depending on the gender of the child.

According to reports, operatives raided a child trafficking centre in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, and rescued six young pregnant women.

The women, who are between the ages of 20 and 23 years, where abducted and being camped with the intention to trade their babies after they were delivered of them.

During the raid, the operator of the child trafficking centre, Akudo Azoroh and her accomplice were arrested and taken into custody.

The suspect admitted running the illegal business but claimed that she does not give the babies to ritualist but to people who do not have children of their own.

Azuroh added that the young women were already pregnant when they came to her, and she pays them off as much as N800,000 to N900,000 depending on the stage of the pregnancy at the time they arrived and the gender of the child they delivered.

“I have given out six children in the past, I started the business three years ago. I do not have boys who get the girls pregnant, they were already pregnant when they came; they came to me on their own,” she said.

“I give out the babies only to families who do not have children and not to ritualists; I give them out for between N1.4 and N1.5 million, depending on the sex of the baby, while I pay their mothers off depending on the stage of the pregnancy at the time they came.”
