Jeff Bozos’ Mega-Yacht Stirs Controversy As A Part Of The  De Hef Is To Be Dismantled

The founder of Amazon and second richest man in the world, Jeff Bozos has built a yacht worth about $500 million. Nevertheless, the mega-yacht has become a source of debates and controversy.

Jeff’s mega-yacht is being built by Netherlands-based Oceanco and it is estimated to be completed shortly. However, the bridge is the largest ever built in the Netherlands. It has a total of three masts and is 417 feet long. Therefore, getting the yacht to the owner appears to have become a challenge.

The yacht is to pass through the landmark historical bridge of Rotterdam to get to Jeff. Now here lies the problem. This Dutch historical bridge known as De Hef is not sufficiently tall enough to accommodate the three masts on Jeff’s mega-yacht. When they said go big or go home, Jeff took it literally.

Reports have it that Jeff has asked for the temporary dismantling of the bridge. Dismantling a part of a bridge that has stood since 1927 just to enable Jeff’s mega-yacht to sail across to him has been frowned upon by many.

Social Media Reaction to the Idea of Temporary Dismantling the De Hef

This news didn’t sit well with the general public. Many have described the entire situation as a flaunt of unmissable privileges enjoyed by the wealthy. Though Oceanco will be paying for the cost of temporarily dismantling the bridge, his request has led to an outrage on social media.

People have described his request as audacious and that it reeks of privileges. Some have opined that Jeff is simply displaying just how rich he is by building a yacht that requires the temporary yanking of a historical bridge.

Currently, an event has been organized on Facebook by protesters who plan to throw eggs at the yacht as it sails across the dismantled bridge in June this year. According to the protest organizers,

“Rotterdam was built from the rubble by the people of Rotterdam, and we don’t just take that apart for the phallic symbol of a megalomaniac billionaire. Not without a fight!!”

On the other side of the divide, the project leader of Rotterdam council, Marcel Walravens, has described the building of jeff’s mega-yacht as “a very important project economically.”

In other news, Jeff Bozos is building a shadow vessel (i.e a small yacht) to accompany his mega-yacht which goes by the code name Y721. This has become a trend with billionaires so they can keep their helicopters and other toys on the shadow vessel without occupying space in their mega-yacht.
