Just In: Buhari Speaks on #EndSARS Protests.

Just yesterday the 19th, President Buhari has declared that the youth are within their rights to peacefully protest and make demands of their leaders.

Buhari, who revealed his intentions through the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, however warned protesters to be wary of unscrupulous elements who may want to make use of the protests to further their own ambitions of mischief.

Could this seemingly innocent statement have dangerous undertones? We’ll let you decide.

The Youth Minister claimed that during his meeting with the President at Aso Rock, the President vowed to implement all the reforms he promised.

“The President promised that he will ensure that the reforms he has promised are met. He will make sure the reforms are long-lasting and that the reforms will deliver for our country a police force that we will be proud of.”

Also, “He appreciates the fact that they have called upon the government to do what is necessary and that as the President and a “father”, he will make sure the demands put forward are met.”

Continuing, “The President said that as far as he is concerned, it’s important to allow the younger generation to exercise the freedom to protest. And make sure that such protest is in a peaceful manner.”

“He said that part of the demands that were made is to make sure that those protesting are protected. Also that any police officer that has in one way or another attacked any protesters be brought to book.”

“So the President thinks it is a fundamental right, so long as the protest is peaceful and focused.”

Finally, “He believes that the youth of this country have the right to protest for “certain things.”
