A Stuart Dallas double was enough for Marcelo Bielsa’s men to inflict a 2-1 loss on City despite being reduced to 10-men before the break.
Dallas opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, but hopes of a famous win for Leeds seemed to have faded away after Liam Cooper was shown a straight red card in 1st-half stoppage time.
City took advantage of this, as they continued to press for an equaliser. The equaliser came however, 14 minutes from time through a Ferran Torres strike. That was not enough to ensure though, that points were shared in the encounter as Leeds launched a late attack on the City defence with Dallas putting the ball past Emerson.
Guardiola paid the price for resting a number of key players with the game against Borrusia Dortmund in the Champions League clearly his priority. Kelvin De Bruyne, IIkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Forden and Ruben Dias were all rested.
City still enjoy a 14-point lead at the submit of the Premier League and need just 11 more points from their remaining six games to win a third title in four years.
Meanwhile, Leeds move up to ninth in the league with Bielsa claiming his first win in five meetings against Guardiola.
