Greater Police are still conducting investigations while Greenwood remains in custody.
Manchester United star Mason Greenwood has been further arrested for suspected sexual assault and threats to kill.
What this simply means is that he still remains in custody for further questioning by the police.
On Sunday, January 31st, the 20-year old striker was arrested after a woman, believed to be his girlfriend posted disturbing pictures and videos of domestic violence and assault by the player.
Following the incident, Greater Manchester Police have kept Greenwood in custody as they continue to interrogate the player. However, a statement has been released by the police that Greenwood will be further questioned.
“Detectives have been granted further additional time to speak to a man in his 20s who was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault of a woman,” the statement reads.
“The suspect was detained in custody on Sunday (January 30) afternoon after we became aware of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.
“He continues to be questioned after magistrates authorised an extension until tomorrow (Wednesday 2 February).
“Following enquiries so far, he has since been further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
“Enquiries are ongoing and the victim continues to be offered specialist support,” the Police added.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have suspended him from all first team activities while investigations are ongoing.
“As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice,” the club stated via a statement.
Game manufacturers, Electronic Arts (EA) have also removed the striker from all versions of the FIFA 22 game, while Nike while suspended their deal with the player.
A spokesman from EA said: “Mason Greenwood has been removed from active squads in FIFA 22 and has also been suspended from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) packs and Ultimate Draft.”
