Of All Cars, Why the Ferrari Portofino?

Of All Cars, Why the Ferrari Portofino?

Yesterday, Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, better known as DJ Cuppy, literally shut Nigeria down after she made an announcement on Twitter yesterday. According to the tweet,

“Papa took us shopping and bought one of each!”

Their billionaire dad, Femi Otedola, took them shopping and bought each of them a Ferrari Portofino.

Let’s examine why the business magnate, Otedola, considered the Ferrari Portofino an excellent choice, among other cars.

Background.

This exquisite car has its name derived from one of Italy’s most beautiful coastal villages. This tourist settlement boasts pastel-coloured houses, high-end boutiques, a 16th century fortress and art exhibitions, among others.

It’s no wonder the Ferrari Portofino is one of the most beautiful cars on the planet. AutoWeek’s Ferrari Portofino review heaps accolades of the car’s looks, writing, “the Portofino is so beautiful to behold that you’ll want to send a thank you note to the Ferrari Design Centre that first time you watch one drive by.”

This gorgeous car has much more to offer than just good looks though.  A quick glance at the specs will reveal a car made for first-rate performance and luxurious comfort.

Specs.

The Ferrari Portofino’s engine is a marvel of modern engineering; a Twin Turbo 3.9L V8 that produces %91 horsepower and %60 lb-ft of torque. Many have praised this engine for being a genuine masterpiece.

Amazingly, this power plant is part of Ferrari’s engine family that won International Engine of The Year in 2016, 2017 and 2018 consecutively.

Its top speed is 200 mph; and it can go from 0 to 62mph in less than 4 seconds. Not surprisingly, it achieves its top speed in approximately 10.8 seconds. Top Gear points out, “the first time you drop the hammer in this thing; it takes off like a scalded cat chasing a rat up a drain pipe. It’s fast. Capital F fast.

Another note-worthy attribute is its incredible aerodynamics that allows it to slice through the air at high speeds. The LED headlights conceal an air intake that helps to reduce drag, and features a similar strategy in the rear.

Interior.

The Ferrari Portofino features more than just comfortable seats and ample trunk space. This baby is loaded with amenities that will continue to tempt you as long as you keep making journeys.

Among them is an air-conditioning system that’s functional whether the top is open or not, Apple CarPlay compatibility that allows you to take advantage of the features of your smartphone, even while you’re behind the wheels, and an available premium JBL audio system that allows you to savour and devour whatever soundtrack you feel is appropriate for the moment.

Added to that is state-of-the-art technology that includes a 10.2-inch touchscreen that allows you to access the car’s multimedia features, and a touchscreen passenger display that provides access to the vehicle’s performance data.

The seats place a dedicated emphasis on making everyone in the car super-comfy, and are the fruits of research studies made by the Ferrari team.

The front seats are 18-way electronically adjustable (whatever that means), while the backrest is designed to increase legroom for passengers. These fine-grained seats also make it easy to adjust yourself until you find your perfect driving position. Isn’t this heaven!

Let me not do all the talking. Bloomberg reflects that the layout and material choices echoes “thoughtfulness and a lack of fuss”, as opposed to “vulgar” carbon-fibre heavy interiors from competitors like Aston Martin.

Other.

It has been noted (coughs) that its base price is $210, 783, approximately 82 million naira. In addition, the Ferrari Portofino has just about 1,300 of its kind in the market.

Perhaps, the most astonishing feature of this dream car is that its “Ferrariesque” characteristics are slightly dormant, which makes it the ideal choice for an everyday driver.

What do I mean? Otedola obviously chose this Ferrari because it’s the most usable. The Ferrari Portofino is something to be dipped into at leisure, and is a confirmation of wealth and good taste.

Fantastic high-end expensive cars attract and pull people (It certainly pulled Nigeria!) When you own such a car, you are given additional respect. You are admired and envied but what matters at the end of the day is that it makes you feel good about yourself. Put the Ferrari Portofino in your bucket list today!
