Despite not playing any competitive game since November last year, the super eagles of Nigeria have managed to move two places up in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.
The giant of Africa is placed 29th position in the latest ranking with 1493 points, same as the points garnered in the last edition released in March.
In Africa, Nigeria remains the third position behind Senegal and Tunisia who take first and second position respectively. Algeria and Morocco complete the top five in fourth and fifth place respectively.
Nigeria recorded its highest-ever feat in the FIFA April rankings of 1994. The Super Eagles stunned the world by attaining the fifth position following their success in the Africa Nations Cup which saw them crowned champions for the second time.
Meanwhile, Belgium is the best-ranked side in the latest ranking. World cup champions France occupy the second position, Brazil in third place, while England and Portugal complete the top five in fourth and fifth positions respectively.
FIFA has scheduled October 22, 2020 as the release date for the next ranking and we hope our country Nigeria will continue to step higher.
