If you are reading this, chances are that you want to make money. Even though we have varying definitions of the meaning of success, wealth still stands out. In truth, nobody wants to be broke. You desire to have enough resources to buy whatever your heart desires.

However, the road to wealth is, more-often-than-not, a treacherous one; a journey you must take armed with vital, and much needed information. Exactly why this article is just for you. Without further ado, these are the things you should stop if you don’t want to stay broke the rest of your life.

1. You Jump—A Lot.

Seeing the heading, I’m sure you must be wondering,

“Do you want me to stop jumping for the rest of my life?”

Yes, but not quite. What I mean is this—stop jumping businesses. Stop jumping careers. Quit jumping ideas.

New stuff—ideas, ventures, and the likes—will surely keep coming up, but if you don’t want to stay broke, you have to stick to one. It’s a no-brainer.

Do this instead: test one new business, trade, or career for six months. One each month. At the end of the six months, choose one you enjoyed, and stick with it for the next five years.

If you already have one, focus on improving yourself by 1% every day, and—quote me on this—in 60 months, you can make just any amount of money you want.

Don’t spend/invest your money in every new shiny stuff, choose one, and stick to it.

2. You Have Bad Allergies.

Again, you’re wondering, Allergies?

Yes, allergies—and I’m not talking about butter or seasonal allergies.

You are allergic to hard work and discipline. You think you want to be wealthy, but you don’t. What you want is to wake up one morning, be richer than Warren Buffet, and binge Netflix all day.

As I said, achieving wealth is a path fraught with uncertainty, and some unfair amount of pain. It requires sacrifice: you have to be willing to give up stuff you love to do, and do stuff you need to do.

Don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying you shouldn’t see movies all day. If you’re too lazy to be rich, that’s fine. But don’t get irritated at anyone for making 6 figures, when you’re not even willing to put down the remote, and pick up a book.

3. You Hang with Buttheads.

“…but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

One of the reasons you are, or will stay broke is because you hang out with broke, unhappy people. It’s true.

The adage “show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are” might be a cliché, but if you want to be wealthy, you have to surround yourself with happy, successful and wealthy people.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t spend time with people who aren’t rich. At all!

But don’t expect to make any real money if your clique is composed of people who are toxic, negative, and poverty-minded. As the tune says, bad energy is a contagious disease—and that’s why it must stay far away!

Woah! I really wanted to make this a 5-listed post, but I wouldn’t want to bore y’all with my ramblings. There are so, so many habits that make people stay broke, and this is just a subset of the bunch. Feel free to list some others you think I, or other people, should know. I’d be delighted to hear from you!
