The near-a-year strike of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities(ASUU) seems to be nearing an end as the body finally reached a new deal with the Federal Government.
After several weeks of negotiations between FG and ASUU, a new deal was reached late, on Friday, November 27th.
According to the Punch, the new deal contains that ASUU will call of its ongoing strike after FG agreed to raise its allowances to N70bn.
The federal government further agreed to pay the outstanding arrears of lecturers before December 31st.

However, reports have been gathered that the Union(ASUU) will not make formal announcement about the review untill the body has presented the agreement before its various zones and branches.
The body also confirmed this in a tweet shared on its official Twitter handle(@ASUUNGR).

ASUU also confirmed in the tweet shared on the body’s official Twitter handle, that it had indeed reached a new deal with the Federal Government.
In the tweet, ASUU also made a strong statement pertaining to the key condition for ending it’s strike which says that the body still refuses to register it’s members on the government payment platform, IPPIS.

Many Nigerian students have reacted to ASUU’s tweet, with most of them venting out their frustration over the delay of a formal announcement of the Union’s end of strike.
