The Academic Staff Union Of Universities(ASUU) has given new updates concerning the body’s negotiations with the Federal Government over its ongoing strike.
The president of the ASUU, Professor Ogunyemi said during an interview with The Nation that lectures will only resume when the federal government fulfills all promises made to the body.

Professor Ogunyemi revealed during the interview that the federal government is yet to pay the salaries of its members.
He also disclosed that the federal government has not fulfilled any part of its bargain.
Professor Ogunyemi said;
“The offers people are talking about are proposals that are timeless and some of these are expected to have been happening. If those things they(FG) promised with the timeline can happen before we conclude our consultation, I think the process will go smoother.

“A concrete example is the payment of our members salaries which have not been paid. If people are not paid I don’t think anybody will be willing to go back to work and other things that have timeline that we expect the government to implement.”
The ASUU strike which has taken a toll on Nigeria Students has lasted for 8 months now. The pleas and cries of Nigerians to the Government and ASUU to finally reach an agreement seem to have fallen on deaf ears as the strike continues.
