The National Association of Nigerian Students on Monday, March 15th, 2000, held a meeting via Zoom

After the meeting which was attended by several zonal coordinators and students in Nigeria, the body was able to reach a resolute decision on how to counter ASUU and FG in order to bring am end to the ongoing strike.

Legit.ng reports that NANS president, Comrade Sunday Asefon said that after a painstaking delibration, the union resolved to reach out to former NANS leaders who are curently in the government before they move to protest on the streets.

According to Asefon, the union agreed to contact people such as, Edo deputy governor, Senator Smart Adeyemi, Comrade Dan Onjeh, Philip shuibu and other former NANS leaders who now hold political positions in government before the union takes further actions regrading the extension of the ongoing ASUU strike by 8weeks.

Asefon Said;

“We will be calling on them. We want to give them the responsibility between now and next week Wednesday to meet with the acting President, who is a former lecturer, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo, to see what he can do to ensure that this strike is called off immediately, while the comitee inaugurated by the federal government are doing their job.”

He further disclosed that the union will hold a Nationwide protest with emphasis on Abuja if the federal government and ASUU don’t reach an agreement to end the ongoing strike.
