BREAKING NEWS: FG to give N5Bn palliative to each state, FCT, to cushion fuel subsidy effect

The FG has also stated that additional palliative would be disbursed to states that share border with Niger Republic to cope with the influx of refugees from the neighboring country.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will receive N5 billion palliative to help them cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

This decision was affirmed at the statutory meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC), held in Abuja on Thursday, August 17, which is chaired by the Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Speaking to State House correspondents, Borno State Governor, Babangan Zulum announced the decision, while he also highlighted some of the issues discussed at the meeting.

According to him, the council also agreed that Nigerian states sharing borders with Niger Republic be handed additional palliative to help cater for the influx of refugees from the politically troubled country.

The council members includes governors of the 36 states of the federation, Ministers of the FCT and Finance, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and others.
