A couple of days ago, the streets of Twitter cheered singer Olubankole Wellington, popularly known by his stage name Banky W; for winning the PDP primary election.
His victory meant he will be contesting for a seat in the House of Representatives under the PDP.
Honestly, Banky’s victory was a symbol of hope to many young Nigerians. His victory was personal to millions of Nigerian youths clamouring for more young people on the political scene.
Unquestionably, you can feel the sheer joy radiating from this video of his votes being counted.
Wow! Such a glorious moment. Nigerian ace artiste Davido publicly congratulated Banky W on his victory.
However, this glorious moment was short-lived.
In an unexpected twist, a document was released indicating that Banky W was not the winner of the PDP primary election. Rather, the winner was one Mr. Aiboni Sam.
This new development laced with spicy disappointment has led to an uproar on Twitter. Folks are bitterly reacting to the news.
According to reports, the People Democratic Party claims that Banky W contested under a fraction of the party that is not recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Therefore, he is not the winner of the PDP primary election.
Banky W is from Lagos state and has for years made efforts to win a political position. He is yet to succeed and when it felt like this time he had a good chance, a fatal blow was thrown his way.
