The state commissioner for education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo said the closure has been approved by the Governor to protect students, parents and all staff working in schools. She said that their safety remains paramount at this critical period.

Adefisayo urged parents to watch their wards closely and not allow them to be used as tools to cause mayhem during the ongoing protests. She also enjoined schools to utilize other means of distance teaching and learning such as radio, television and online media to bridge the gap.

According to her, a new date of resumption will be announced “as soon as possible”.
