The Edo state government has imposed a curfew across the states to be effective from today, October 19 due to recent happenings in the state.

As the #EndSARS protests continue to intensify, the state government has decided to impose a curfew all across the state for 24hrs starting from 4pm until further notice. The decision comes after some hooligans attacked the #EndSARS protesters and a subsequent escape of prisoners from the cells of the prison.

“While the government of Edo State respects the rights of its citizens to undertake legitimate protests, it cannot sit idly when hoodlums have taken laws into their hands to cause mayhem on innocent citizens and the state,” Ogie said.

“The hoodlums are currently exchanging fire with the security personnel at the maximum security prison in Oko, Benin City”
