Ibrahim Garba Musa, the permanent secretary at Niger’s ministry of transportation, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

He and his son were kidnapped in the early hours of Saturday, October 2, in the Zungeru district of the state, where they were attending a wedding ceremony.

The incident was confirmed by Mary Noel-Berje, the governor of the state’s top press secretary, Abubakar Sani Bello.

She said the governor also “decried the barbaric and atrocious acts of bandits in Shiroro and Munya Local Government Areas recently, where many villagers were slaughtered, burnt and some kidnapped”.

His kidnapping comes just two months after Sani Idris, the state’s information commissioner, was kidnapped by suspected bandits.

In other news, the Zamfara Police Command has nabbed a notorious commander of bandits named Bello Ruga.

According to the State Commissioner of Police, the notorious commander of bandits, Bello Ruga was arrested at the bandits’ camp in Gummi Local Government Area of the state.

Ayuba said; 

“On 1st October 2021, police tactical operatives on anti-banditry operations around Gummi axis acted on intelligence report and stormed Gidan Bita, Malankare, and Kagara forest in search of one notorious bandit known as Bello Rugga. 

“The bandit who happens to be one of the Turji’s commanders was the one in charge of Gummi, Gidan Bita, Malankare, and Kagara forest in Gummi LGA.

“He has been commanding a series of attacks and kidnaps in Gummi that led to the unwarranted killing of innocent people, and the kidnapping of many persons where ransoms were paid. The suspect who has many bandits under him also is in possession of AK 47 rifles.”
